learning love

This is a journey into life and love from a Christian perspective. Don't panic, it's the lighthearted side, the fun side, the kind of trip that you pack in advance to take. As in everyday life, some days are better than others and my words will reflect such. This is an account of my heart's song.

How I See It

As we've entered into another year, 2007, I like many wonder what will be different, what changes I'll make...you know, all of the "resolutionary" behavior. Just yesterday, my pastor proclaimed that this will be the best year of our lives and we sang The Prayer of Jabez for good measure. But you know, I can't help but feel a sense of deja vu...that I've been in this place before, made the exact declarations that have eventually gone unfulfilled. No doubt, as a result of my complacency and inaction...a hard pill to swallow. As I contemplate this past year, one of my sisters in Christ blogged about starting off right relationship wise, and her words found their way straight to my heart. Her first and most poignant statement was..."Don’t try to work with a player. You’re not equipped to handle the level of work that’s needed to make him…right. He needs Jesus, first and foremost, and discipleship. If he’s not saved and walking in obedience, he’s not the one." (http://nappilyevahaftah.net/2007/01/02/lets-start-off-right/) What a word. Thanks T! In 2006 I experienced the harsh outcome of compromise and settling. Ouch! Nevertheless, I am "forgetting those things which are behind (2006!!), and reaching forth unto those things which are before (2007!!). I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. (Phil 3:13b - 14).
How I see it is that I must (we must) continually set our sights on the mind and things of God. That's the only way it will work. Matthew 6:33 petitions us to "seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things will be added unto you." The operative words here are "first" and "his." So this is my prayer for 2007, seeking the kingdom of God first...not so much to make empty promises to myself which I already know are futile, but to entrust my faith and humanity unto the One who created me.

In His Everlasting Love,

AMEN!! Good word!! Seek the Kingdom first... I read a book last semester called Kingdom Ethics. It was a text book, but it was AWESOME talking in depth on the Sermon on the Mount. We just don't seek the Kingdom enough... Thanks!!
God Bless you!!
